Dr Jane Deacon
Dr Jane Deacon has been working with MDA National for over 16 years. Until recently she was manager of the medico-legal advisory services at MDA National but has recently stepped down to part-time work on her way to retirement.
She is involved in assisting Members with medico-legal enquiries, complaints, and investigations, as well as providing in-house medical opinions, facilitating education events, and providing articles for MDA National’s website and Defence Update magazine. She has a background in general practice and ran her own practice for many years. She completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Law from the University of Sydney in 2016.
Dr Vannessa Leung
Vannessa is an accredited ophthalmology registrar based at Sydney Eye Hospital. She is interested in medical education, medical research and junior doctor advocacy. Her affiliations include conjoint positions with the University of New South Wales and University of Sydney. Vannessa has been involved with MDA National since 2019 in various committee and education capacities.
Outside of work her interests include distance running, yoga, swimming, reading and bushwalking.
